Although last night crushing defeat to the Edmonton Oilers was one of the worst for Red Wing Hockey Fans, most of the team sees things differently."They can gloat all they want, but we got the President's Trophy," exclaimed Brendan Shanahan. "Nobody's going to ever take that away from us."
"They just don't hand that thing out to anybody. You got to win games to get it. A lot of games," said Robert Lang nodding his head.
"We won when it counted. Everything else is extra for us," said goalie Manny Legace. "Three times in four seasons baby!"
"Did you ever see it up close? It has far less dings than that crappy Stanley Cup," smiled Pavel Datsyuk. "We actually got back to back President's Cup. Wings in da house!"
"Yeah. We're number one. There is no need to get greedy," said Chris Chelios. "Who cares about getting your name engraved in a second rate trophy anyways?"
Not all of the team members were content with the defeat. In fact, Yzerman and Zetterberg were downright miserable.
"These guys are on crack. There is simply no better feeling than winning the Stanley Cup. Then again, I wouldn't know," said Henrik Zetterberg with tears in his eyes.
"I was really hoping I could hoist Lord Stanley again. It would have been the ultimate way to finish my career," said Steve Yzerman. "Each time we won it was more special than the last. Much better than the stupid President's cup. These morons with the exception of Henrick had other ideas."
"No one ever keeps track of President Cup statistics," said Zetterberg. "I would trade it for a chance to hold the Stanley Cup any day of the week."
"I should just retire. There is no way we'll ever win that thing with this group," said Yzerman.
"Jesus, I should have stayed in Sweden," said a disappointed Zetterberg.
