The Crappy Darth Vader Turns 25

Today marks the 25th birthday of Hayden Christensen. That's very unfortunate for the world. In case you live under a rock, Christensen became famous for bringing his mind-numblingly awful acting skills to the role of Anakin Skywalker/Dart Vader in the latest Star Wars movie. On the plus side, we now know what the Star Wars movie would look like if a young Keanu Reeves played the role of Luke Skywalker - not surprising, it would suck. And believe me, I'm not giving Mark Hamill a lot of acting props. But halfway through every movie I wished somehow Anakin could die.

So please take a moment to thank God that the Star Wars movie are done. I don't think I could be as constantly amazed at an actor's craptacular ability.

Happy Birthday, you crappy Darth Vader.

  1. hahahahaahahaha .... I can almost hear Keanu doing the part. That was the second time in the history of reading your log that my drink almost came out my nose.
I might have to take you two to civil court to replace my keyboard if anything else gets spit on it. LOL

  2. I'm bored with the constant comments and jabs at Hayden's acting abilities. Hayden did exactly as George Lucas asked him to do in the Star Wars films, and he gave the performance requested of him (and this is straight from George's mouth). I for one believe he did a fantastic job of bringing Anakin Skywalker to life, particularly in Revenge of the Sith, as do several others, the evidence of which stems from the fact that he recently won an MTV Award for best villain as Anakin/Darth Vader. Generally one doesn't receive an award for a poor performance. The MTV awards are voted for by the fans... in other words, they aren't voted for by critics, they're voted for by people who watch movies, by people who matter. The people voted Hayden the best... end of story.

If you doubt Hayden's acting abilities, perhaps you should give his other movies a chance... particularly Shattered Glass or better yet, Life As A House, in which he gave a spectacular performance. He was equally stellar on the short lived television show Higher Ground, which I'd also recommend to any Hayden naysayers out there.

Sorry to rant on, but I feel the need to defend Hayden when others criticize him. He's talented, and kind hearted, and he isn't typical Hollywood. He's genuine and real and deserves respect for all of his acting roles, Star Wars included.

  3. Well said, Erica! There are too many people who don't give him a fair shake. Every actor in the SW movies suffered at Lucas' hands. He's more of an idea man than a director/writer.

Mr. Christensen truly is talented, and I'm sure we will be seeing a lot more of him in the future. Watch out, naysayers! ;)

  4. I agree with Erica as well. Hayden is truly talented and he only worked with what he was given. Lucas isn't known for his stellar writing abilities with dialogue, it is the overall story that is important. Hayden did an amazing job bringing Anakin to life and I just hate seeing him bashed for just doing his job. His other prior projects are an example of how truly talented he really is and he will only continue to grow and amaze us with better things to come! Just my 2 cents!

  5. If you think he's so crappy why bother writing about his birthday? My opinion is that not only Hayden did an amazing performance, he actually BECAME Anakin Skywalker!

  6. I agree with everyone!

Hayden gets a bad wrap from Star Wars because of George Lucas and thats just not fair!

Go pick on someone your own size because Darth Vader is larger than life and out of your league!

    **swoosh, swoosh**

  7. Has it become impossible to be positive in this world? I agree with Erica about being bored with Haydenbashing, but I'll take that a step further and say that I'm bored with all sarcastic, smart-ass, hate mongers out there. You may make people laugh, but have no doubt that its mometary whereas those who you bash live on. And life is NOT crap. If you truely think so, I am so sorry for you.
