Ben Shepherd

As a bassist for Soundgarden, Ben Shepherd was able to influence popular music. Yet being a bassist he never got any recognition, which is a shame. For Soundgarden was in a lot of ways a very democratic band with everyone contributing to the songwriting. If there was any doubts about Shepherd's songwriting abilities, they were answered with his contributions in Hater and The Wellwater Conspiracy. In these two bands Shepherd, along with Soundgarden and Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron wrote some truly great songs. They are more in the vein of garage rock then Soundgarden but are just kickass songs. If The Wellwater Conspiracy or Hater ever toured Chicago, I would drop anything to attend.
