We Can Expect Better

I'm embarassed to be a Cubs fan at times. Monday at noon will be no exception. See, since the Cubs won the NL Central they are hosting a rally at Daley Plaza at noon.

Now, if the Cubs were a HS team and we were able to send them off to states then I would understand a rally. However, we are a major league baseball team in the 3rd largest city in the US.

We can and should expect more. While I'm glad the Cubs are in the playoffs, I want and expect more. Cubs fans get a bad reputation for reasons exactly this. I would hope no one would show up - not to discourage the players but to send a message to the organization. It's not good enough anymore to just make the playoffs every 5 years. We expect to win it all. After 100+ years, I don't think that's unreasonable.

The Cubs aren't the only team doing these rallies. While they are truly lame, I think it's just an effort to get as many bandwagon fans as possible on board.

After all, no true baseball fan needs a pep rally to get excited about October.
