Based on this, I guess the only people qualified to tackle poverty are the poor. Unfortunately, I don't see too many poor people serving in government. It just takes too much money nowadays. Then again, maybe this explains why the GOP has been tackling the problems of rich white guys the last 6 years.

Why the need to inject race into everything? I guess thats what makes a racist a racist.
Lets put the statement in perspective. When we are talking about rich people, we are talking about 1 to 1.5% of the USA population. People who make 10 million or more per year. White people make up 80.7% of the USA population.
Tom's statement use "rich and white." In theory he is talking about .807% to 1.2105% Americans. Approximately .193% to .2895% of the population are rich minorities.
Do you make 10 million or more per year? Does it upset you that the majority of rich people are white?
I refuse to stand up for rich people. I also refuse to believe that any race is superior to any other in any way including my own.
Although I am white, I have no problem acknowledging that my race has done some awful things. Did I personally do those awful things? No. But I have a responsibility as an American citizen to fight injustices whether it be poverty, racism, or what not.
America exists for all of us regardless of class, color, or religion. We should all be given equal opportunities to be successful in life. That is what I believe and I am willing to fight for that.
