Professor of Football

With the college football season starting last night, now's as good a time as any to highlight Carl Tabb, wide receiver of The University of Michigan. Apparently he's second string in what seems like his 10th year. In fact, I think he lived down the hall from me when I was a sophomore (94-95). From what I can surmise, he must be working on his doctorate in football. A part of me thinks his goal is to take every class offered by the university, since obviously football players care mainly about academics and sports are just a hobby. Anyway, here's a salute to the greatest 10 year college veteran in University of Michigan history. If only John Navarre could have sweaked out a 9th season.

While I joke about it seeming like Carl Tabb has been a Michigan Wolverine forever (last link to the Bo Schembechler years), that's actually a compliment. It means he's seen enough playing time since a freshmen for Michigan fans to know who he is. While never a star, he's had a very solid career. In fact, 10 years from now I'll probably still remember him even though he won't be playing on Sundays, have his jersey retired, or hold any Michigan records. That's actually a decent enough legacy, and actually better than someone like Demetrius Brown. All any Michigan fans remember about Brown is his 6 interception game against Michigan State.

GO BLUE!!!
