Senator Jackass

When I went to the jerk store they were all out of this jackass

This is hilarious (from MyDD):

In the rest of his speech, Lieberman referred repeatedly to his work in the
1960s marching and registering voters in the South. Even this didn't work,
since most people in the semi-crowd weren't actually alive in the the early
1960s. At a certain point during the anecdote, one of his staffers shouted
out derisively 'Where was Ned?' Lieberman grinned and said 'That's a good
question, where was Ned?' While not a devastating blow, it does seem
reasonable to wonder why Ned Lamont wasn't in the South in the early 1960s
registering voters like Joe Lieberman was. Apparently, Ned's lame excuse
is that he was in elementary school.

What a jackass!!!

I highly recommend reading the entire anecdote. It's amazing how widespread the practice of extinguishing dissent has become in this country. As if that isn't one of the major tenants on which this country was built. It's become acceptable for Bush. According to the above article, Lieberman believes in it as well (plus they vetted entrants into the Clinton appearance that was open to the public and denied access to people who had bought tickets).

What's next, will Joe attack Ned Lamont for not taking up arms with the North during the Civil War? Did he not help out Jesus in a past life?

Here's hoping Ned Lamont represents Connecticut in the 2007 Senate.

Did you even read what Lieberman said or what I was talking about?

He chided Lamont for not helping with the Civil Rights movement even though Lamont was in elementary school. Don't know about you, but I didn't do much besides go to school, do chores, and play while I was in elementary school.

He chided him? It seems to me

(1) Lieberman made the inevitable Dem-over-60 "I marched with Dr' King" (ie. I like black people, puupy dogs and ice cream)

(2) A voice from the crowd asked "where was Lamont?" (not surprising, if stupid, considering Lamont's age)

(3) Lieberman - never good on the fly - remarked 'good question'. There is no sense of whether this he said this with a smile or not, but I think this is a real strecth to say that it constitues Liberman chiding Lamont for not marching with the Civil Rights movement.

Why do you have such a hard-on for a cipher like Lamont? Lieberman is in many ways a typical political whore but compared to most, he has shown a capacity to take unpreditcable positions, not always toe the party line. Lieberman is a jerk, but his stench is relatively mild given the cesspoll in which he swims. Why do you prefer this old left, party hack, Lamont?
