That's When I Reach For My Revolver

I've been listening quite a bit to Mission of Burma lately and wanted to give a shoutout to them. Like many of the punk rock bands they have never gotten their due, but you can definitely hear their influence in countless bands over the past 20 years. Their career was cut short after the drummer had hearing problems. But to the delight of many (should be millions), the hearing problems have subsided. And they recently returned with the superb "OnOffOn". It was as if they never left and was a very welcome surprise. Now they are slated to play Pitchfork's Intonation Festival in Chicago this summer and I guarantee I will be there.

If you have never heard Mission of Burma I strongly recommend it. While everything is good in its own way, the songs "That's When I Reach For My Revolver" and "Academy Fight Song" are truly amazing. In fact, Moby recorded Revolver in the 90s on his rock record. I'm partial to "Signals, Calls, and Marches" and "Vs" is considered their classic, but you can't really go wrong with anything. I suggest you give them a listen - you won't be disappointed.

I like your music posts. :-) I am a big fan of lots of music that other people say "huh"? when I answer the infamous "WHAT is this?" question.
Sadly, I almost always have to make some recent pop/rock top 40 person that has been influenced by these bands to get them to give the obligatory...."ohhhhhh"...."them"

I don't know if that made any freaking sense.

good post though.

Yeah I have to add an option to retrieve the music reviews from the site and perhaps Beerometer reviews too.

Anyways, you can now retrieve our funny posts from the Archives link listed below the post.

I'm running out of people who share a similar taste in music as I do. I do recommend listening to the preceived classics. There's usually a reason why they are considered classic. Based on this, I bought "Blonde on Blonde", loved it, and became a huge Dylan fan. I also understand Springsteen's popularity after "Nebraska" and The Replacements devotion after "Let it Be".

I actually saw Alice's Restaraunt the other day. I haven't heard it in years, and never saw it.
I told my dad. He said "I can play that on my 12 string"

me "before you became Republican" He actually laughed instead of the normal glare.

Anyway, I appreciate your taste in music Tom. You aren't alone, I always knows who you are talkin' about.
