Tony the Tiger Owes Big Bucks in Child Support Case
Kellogg's Tony the Tiger who secretly divorced Mrs. Tony in 1984, owes $135,460.23 in child support for his two children Tony Junior and Antoinette. Tony and Mrs. Tony separated in March 1983, but both tigers agreed to keep the matter hushed due to the political climate at the time.
"The American public wanted their cereal mascots to be happily married and good outstanding citizens. We didn't want to destroy the illusion that we were everything, but happy and decent," elaborate Mrs. Tony.
"Things weren't going sooooooo great," stated Tony. "I was hanging out with that Honey Smacks Frog: Dig'Em a lot. We were doing all sorts of drugs like meth and heroin," stated Tony.
Tony entered rehab in April 1986, but the event was not widely publicized. Six months later, he was back in the limelight promoting his Kellogg's cereal.
"I was clean, and happy to have a new start in life," stated Tony.
"We were all happy that he was better, but he failed his family when we needed him the most. Junior lost his job with Kellogg in 1987, and Antoinette never did show business. We were financially in ruins," stated Mrs. Tony.
Mrs. Tony did not have enough money to hire an attorney until she sold the rights to her best selling memoir: "The Tiger Behind the Cereal."
"The great thing was that only half of it was exaggerated and the other half was completely fictional. That makes it pretty accurate by today's standards," exclaimed Mrs. Tony.
Sales of Tony related merchandise have gone through the roof since the book release. A spoon bearing his likeness used to sell for pennies at a thrift shop, recently sold for $50.00 on eBay. Tony seemed pretty upbeat about the book and the popularity it generated.
"I have not read it, because there's too many words. I'm sure it's great because it's about me," stated Tony.
The Kellogg company could not be reached for comment.
