Privacy No Longer an Issue in Japan

Approximately 30% of Japanese companies spy on their employees. This includes reading emails, checking web logs, and even installing mini web cams so that bosses can watch you work. Lawsuits against employers who allow such practices have been overturned.

Whatever happened to the concept of trust? Is it too risky to trust anyone? What kind of effect does this have on morale? What does this say about our society? I don't think there is anything wrong with the occasional surfing. It breaks the monotony and helps people refresh so they can work harder. Creating a climate of fear only breeds hostility and anger. I argue that it is completely counterproductive.
