The Guns of Brixton

At we least we can say irrational fear is not limited to the US. In a disturbing story, apparently singing a song can now raise flags of terrorism.

Then again, would you expect less? In the US, it's essential to track the books, movies, and CDs you purchase to identify terrorists. In addition to my purchases, I'm sure my emails, postings, and phone calls have landed me on numerous terrorism watch lists. Guess it's just a price to pay to combat the war on terror with these so-called strong and decisive leaders that get so scared because they have absolutely no idea what they are doing. On the plus side, many of the competent experts have left in the last 5 years rather than deal with their bullshit. That should be comforting when you lie down to sleep tonight.
LONDON (Reuters) - British anti-terrorism detectives escorted a man from a plane
after a taxi driver had earlier become suspicious when he started singing along
to a track by punk band The Clash, police said Wednesday.
Detectives halted the London-bound flight at Durham Tees Valley Airport in northern England and Harraj Mann, 24, was taken off. The taxi driver had become worried on the way to the airport because Mann had been singing along to The Clash's 1979 anthem "London Calling," which features the lyrics "Now war is declared -- and battle come down" while other lines warn of a "meltdown expected."

One of my favorite lyrics to quote is from The Clash song "The Guns of Brixton" - implication should be self-explanatory.

"When they kick down your front door, how are you gonna come? With your hands on your head or on the trigger on your gun."

Lest anyone thinks I'm advocating violence, I'm not. I just believe it's every individual's right to stand up for what they believe in and think is right. You should openly challenge the government - don't forget that they work for you, not the other way around. A corrupt system feeds off the apathy of their electorate. It may seem impossible to make a difference but remember, a handful of complaints is more powerful than thousands of silences.
