Gene Pitney: Passed Away but not Forgotten
Gene Pitney died peacefully last night after performing in a concert in Wales. The 1960s Singer is best known for such hits as "Town Without Pity," "It Hurts to Be in Love," "The Man Who Shot the Liberty Valence," "I'm Gonna be Strong," "That Girl Belongs to Yesterday," and "Only Love Can Break a Heart." He also penned a few gems such as "Rubber Ball," "Hello Mary Lou," amongst other songs.I know most people do not know who Gene is. He was no Mick Jagger or Paul McCartney, but he wasn't half bad either. A lot of his stuff was over dramatic and sung in a over zealous high pitch voice. I found it refreshingly amusing and interesting. It hurts to be without Gene.
