Bush and GOP: Screwing a Nation

It’s getting ugly for King George and his cohorts proving that the American people can only take so much crap. Iraq, Katrina, NSA Spying Leak, Dubai Port Deal, Tax Cuts for the Wealthy, Halliburton, Patriot Act Undermining Constitutional Rights, Lack of Jobs, Corporate Cronyism, Torture, Terri Schiavo Posturing, Homeland Security Blunders are just a few of the many gifts that the GOP and Bush Administration have bestowed upon the American people. No wonder why 70 percent believe the nation is headed in the wrong direction. We might be patient, but not blind. We know something is up when the Hammer (Tom DeLay) goes down, administration officials are subpoenaed, and a major GOP lobbyist/fundraiser winds up in jail. The rotting stench of corruption runs rampant even in our election system. Make no mistake; election fraud occurred in 2004 and 2000, the extent however, is unknown.

Lost in the barrage of partisan bickering, back room deals, and power struggles are the American people. Life has been tough for the majority of us the last four or five years. High Tech and blue collar workers witness the mass extinction of good paying jobs, while lawyers take note of our disappearing Constitutional rights. Families struggle to pay off their debt and save for higher education amidst wage freezing. Individuals can no longer declare bankruptcy in the USA; Corporations on the other hand are allowed to drop pension plans and benefits while citing record profits. The Retirement age will soon rocket to 70 making retirement rare for most Americans.

The misdemeanors committed towards the Middle Class pale in comparison to the crimes against the lower class. The poor and uninsured watch helplessly as their aid and services evaporate. “No Child Left Behind,” is a clever catch phrase for shafting our country’s young. Instead of aiding those who desperately need it, blank checks are written to Halliburton, Oil Companies, and other corporations. It appears that the only crime in Bushland is being poor and not having connections. Is it any wonder why the majority of us feel screwed?
