Buried in the NY Times article about the soaring economy is the real answer to why regular people don't feel the economy is soaring - we aren't feeling it.
Spending by upper-income families appears to be driving much of the economy's
growth. The average hourly wage for rank-and-file workers — who make up roughly
80 percent of the work force — has fallen by 5 cents in the last four years, to
$16.49, after inflation is taken into account. Yet most well-paid workers have
continued to receive raises.
You read that correctly - 80% of the population have seen their hourly wage stagnate for the past 4 years. Yet the article claims the economy is soaring. Well, I guess I have to hope to be in that 20%. It's the Republican way though - the whole trickle down belief that's a load of shit. I might be crazy, but I happen to believe the economy is not soaring if a very high majority have actually experienced a wage cut.
Thanks once again you incompetent fool who can't even ride a bike or eat pretzels without tempting The Grim Reaper.
