Finish What Ya Started

Why are these people always so angry?

Apparently Rice has stopped jazzercising enough to threaten Iran, saying the US faces no greater challenge than Iran. First, let's get a little perspective. Technically, she may be right. But Iran is definitely less of a threat than we faced with the Soviet Union during the Cold War. And did we ever attack them? No, because we had semi-sane leaders in power. What we have now are bullies in power who attack when someone doesn't comply with their wish. Really, it's all this administration does. From scientists to reporters to Congressmen to allies to the dreaded "axis of evil", they bully.

To me it's similar a bully who lives next to an equal bully. They are for some reason the only teenagers in the neighborhood with all other kids 8 years old. The bullies threaten each other and the kids around them but never actually take any action for fear of what the other bully would do if he had the support of all the 8 year olds. Suddenly, one of the bullies moves away for good. Technically, one of the 8 years old is the biggest threat to the teenager. But it's not the same threat. And it sure as hell does not require more action to be taken than when the threat was another teenager. But the 13 year is a bully, so he decides to beat up on the 8 year old anyway.

Secondly and probably much more important, we have not finished what we started in Iraq or Afghanistan. Maybe our leaders are bowling enthusiasts and are just trying for a turkey. But even Sammy Hagar, "The Red Rocker", realized that you need to finish what you started. I'd almost equate it to a meal - Afghanistan was the salad, Iraq the entree, and Iran the dessert. If you don't plan it out correctly, you may only get a bite or two of the salad before the entree arrives. And if you don't learn your lesson you will repeat the same mistake. So you cut up your entree into pieces and really end up making a mess of it. And then you get a bite or two when it's time for the dessert. So you make barely any noticeable progress on the salad or the entree. In fact, they end up discarded once the dessert comes along. But why would I expect you to learn from past mistakes with the dessert. I mean, there's always the after meal drink and/or cigarette waiting. So what do we have to look forward to after Iran, maybe Syria?
