Layne Staley, Son of God
First there was Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Now, there's Layne Staley, former and current singer of Alice in Chains. Apparently, Layne is God's son sent to save us through dark and depressing music centered around drug addiction and pain and drug addiction and despair and drug addiction and sorrow and drug addiction. And just like Jesus, Layne has been resurrected.
In 3 days (May 21st), Layne Staley will return from the dead to reunite with his bandmates in Alice in Chains at a show in front of a few thousand at The Metro in Chicago. I always thought "Dirt" was derived from God's mouth and really was another supplement to The Bible (along with Dianetics). Just a sample of God's psalms in the 21st century:
Care not for the men who wonderTags:
Straw that broke your back, you're under
Cast all them aside who care
Empty eyes and dead end stare
Don't you know that none are blind
To the lie, and you think I don't find what you hide?
What in God's name have you done?
Stick your arm for some real fun

At the very least they should perform with his corpse on stage. Obviously dress him up in something respectable.
They just played a free show here that was their comeback show. Sometimes I hate Seattle.
Ugh! This is not a good idea. The band definitely had it's moments and this will destroy what they accomplished. Why didn't they just create a new band that would play a couple of the old songs?
The major problem is that Layne Staley formed the band and was the main songwriter. I'm also fine with them re-forming with a new singer under a new name. And then could play Alice in Chains songs in concert.
Plus, is it soon enough for a Seattle revival? Besides Nirvana, "Superunknown", "Dirt", "Sweet Oblivion", and moments from Pearl Jam, is there anything else redeemable with grunge music? And yes, I have only listened to "Sweet Oblivion" in the past 5 years. I would argue that the Singles soundtrack is the defining grunge CD (I only equate "Bleach" as grunge for Nirvana; the rest transcends grunge).
Yeah, I have 'dirt' and that's it. I love 'Would'. "So I made a big mistake, try to see it once my way." Always gets me.
I closed my eardrums after that.
