Before The Hold Steady, Craig and Tad played in a band called Lifter Puller. Given Craig's distinctive voice and vocal delivery, there are a lot of similarities between the two bands. From my perspective, The Hold Steady is a natural progression from Lifter Puller. And there's a lot of good stuff to be found in Lifter Puller.
