Mitt Romney's Out, Huckabee on the Ropes

He's not out of the closet (Although these days would that be surprising?), but he is out of the race. Let the destruction of the Republican party begin. The neocons and hate mongers are pulling out their hair. McCain has this GOP party nomination in the bag. Only Huckabee remains and he isn't much of a threat.

Thank god for sanity. Clinton, McCain, and Obama are all pretty moderate candidates. Some of the stuff McCain says scares me, but he isn't as wacky as Ron Paul or Huckabee.

Speaking of Huckabee... Abolish the IRS? WTF? Look idiot, How the hell are we going to finance these wars without some money coming in? Jesus. We are already bankrupt as it is and this guy is talking about getting rid of income tax. You would have to raise sales tax by 20-35% to compensate. I guess he doesn't tell his idiot supporters that tidbit of information. That sizable sales tax increase would kill the Middle Class and economy. Bravo!

According to most ecnonomist (minus ones from right wing think tanks), the sales tax would have to be in the 50% to 60% range to make up the loss in revenue from the abolition of the income tax. Add to that it's actually regressive taxation and he should have been laughed out of existence or put in a mental institution.

BTW, while he wants to abolish the IRS he would still need an agency to monitor the collection of the sales tax. Which he actually advocated the creation of this agency, though I can't recall what he called it. Either way, it serves the basic function of the IRS but has a different name. What an idiot!

Don't believe the hype around McCain. He has one of the most conservative voting records. He's firmly against choice. And wants to be in Iraq for a very long time (100 years?) and would probably lead us to war against Iran. While not as incompetent as Bush, he's just as dangerous. Luckily I don't think he stands a chance in hell.

I think you are right about McCain. The Iraq war is very personal matter to him just like it is too a lot of ultra hard conservatives.

They believe we have to win this war to atone for pulling out of Vietnam. So much for learning from our mistakes.

On paper it might makes sense, but reality is a different matter. The Iraqi people do not want us there. At some point we will have to leave. It may as well be now.
