Bee Crisis
Approximately a third of our food comes from pollinated crops. Take away the bees who do the pollinating and you have a major crisis on your hands. How bad is the problem? In some parts of the country the bee population is half of what it was last year at this time. The worst part is that scientists have no idea what the heck is going on.
It could be months before we know the answers. It could be anything from genetic modified crops, disease, pesticides, habitat loss, and / or poor diet. One thing is certain, humans are likely to blame.
So it goes... When the end comes, it most likely will be due to something we did. Perhaps it is because of our greedy ways or our twisted desire to control the natural world. But we had a good run while it lasted, right?
Clearly, we accomplished more on this earth than any other species. Look at my dog for instance. His biggest accomplishment is licking his you know what. Granted that is huge, but it doesn't compare to nuking a city off the face of earth or accidently killing off 99% of the world's known species.
We have priorities: SUVs, mp3 players, flat screen televisions, war, Wall Street, fame, power, fortune, etc... Screw the honeybees. I'll just pollinate the damn crops myself.

Honeybees are not native to this continent in the first place - their being here in the first place is a a manifestation of human intervention. If they all died it only be restoring the land to its true, bee-less 'nature'. We're all sure the next time you or a loved one of yours gets seriously ill or injured, you won't be so hypocritical as to accept any modern medical technology wrought by man's "twisted desire to control nature", but will let nature run it's course, right? Kumbaya.
Sorry Anonymous, but my Divine Inspiration lead the human race to transport the honeybees to the United States.
"accidently killing off 99% of the world's known species."
It is true that 99% of all species that ever lived are extinct, but this has nothing to do with mankind but with periodic mass extinctions; it was true long before the dawn of man.
"The worst part is that scientists have no idea what the heck is going on."
"One thing is certain, humans are likely to blame."
Are these two claims consistent? Anyway, could you cite a source for the latter claim?
cell phone usage might be adding to the problem. bees no likey cell phone emittance. knocks em straight out of the sky.
