Ford: A President in Troubling Times

It's time for our country to say goodbye to our 38th president: Gerald Ford. His time in the Whitehouse was brief, but he did his best to bring about national healing after Watergate.

Gerald Ford governed from the center and reached out to both sides of the aisle. He was socially liberal; believing in equality for all people. Although he was religious, he did not use his faith as a political weapon instead he practiced humbly.

In short Ford was a member of a dying breed. A moral politician who was grounded in reality who worked for the people and the common good. It is not to say that everyone agreed with all of Ford's policies, but at least his political opponents were treated with respect. It's tragic that there are not more people in Washington with his tact and spirit.

Unlike Ford, Cheney has no soul.
