Ron Santo: Quote of the Week

I LOVE Ron Santo. He's the Cubs color analyst for their radio broadcast. You definitely know it's summer when you hear Ron and one of his statements. Anyway, I will try to post a quote from Ron every week. Today I heard a couple but this one made me chuckle:

"Pat (Hughes, play by play announcer), have you ever seen a player with a uniform number of 0?"

Apparently Ron was puzzled that a player had the number 0. He claims he's never seen it before. I might be crazy, but I doubt this was the first time in MLB that a player had the number 0. And he's been an announcer for what, maybe 25 years. Just chalk it up to Ron.

  2. Was Rey Ordonez any good? I'm so baseball retarded.

  3. I think I could hit better than Rey Ordonez. He was a good fielder though. Since he played for the Cubs there's a good chance he wore 0. It was just funny how surprised Santo was, as if he really did just discover something new. And he kept talking about it. Then again, that's what Ron tends to do.

  4. I miss pat and ronnie. All we get is Dave Henderson for some reason.

  5. Is that Dave "Hendo" Henderson?

Yeah, I just happened to catch Ron and Pat on the drive home. The game was over so they were getting way off topic.

I'm going to the game Sunday night against the Cards - go Cubbies!!!
