RIP Don Knotts

The town of Mayberry just a got a little more quiet. A town has lost its dimwitted deputy alias, "Mr. Chicken." Whether your remember him as the bumbling Barney Fife or the scarf wearing Mr. Furley, one thing is for sure Don Knotts had a pretty spectacular career. Appearing in literally hundreds of TV shows and movies, he had accomplished much more than the Coreys ever will. In all seriousness, I always liked Don Knotts. He was the kind of guy that reminded of you of one your uncles on speed. The nervous twitches, the awkward mannerisms, the over-acting, and the high pitched voice... It was hard to distinguish the difference between the real Don Knotts and the various characters he played. Who was this brilliant man who made us laugh over the years? I imagine that like a lot of comic geniuses he was a private man who lived life to the fullest, but felt uncomfortable at times. Perhaps his characters were an extension of how he felt deep inside. The only ones who will ever know are his family and friends. Although I did not know him personally, I will miss him.

Don Knotts was definitely one of a kind. Think I need to write my own post about him soon. But The Andy Griffith is an American icon and so is Barney Fife. I guess I will miss him on some level. But the great thing is that we have all those episodes to watch so it's kinda like he's never gone.
